  • Both of our dogs are German Shepherds, which in their case means long guard hairs, tight tangly undercoat, and lots of shedding. I had not been grooming one of them as frequently as was needed, so she's been getting more regular grooming lately. The solid thincomb side of this works well to catch loose or broken guard hairs, but the real power is the rake on the reverse side. That thing grabs tangled dead fur up like nothing else, which is awesome, but I've found that I have to work slowly. You are pulling a bunch of dead hair away from a bunch of hair that's still alive and sensitive, and even my very tolerant 9 year old needed a lot of encouragement and a solid 'Fur for Treats' exchange program at the start in order to keep her enthusiastic and cooperative in these early grooming sessions. Short upbeat sessions work best, be prepared to take more than a few shots at the backlog and quit when you are ahead with the dog. I will say that with my dogs, once you clear the undercoat snarls, day to day grooming is much easier, and they barely notice it. They still seem to shed some significant multiple of their body weight every month, but they are certainly more fun to visit with and pet with clear, untangled coats!
  • My mind is blown!!!! Best pet brush I've ever had. I have to short hair black cats. I tried it on both. The one hated it. But that's nothing new. The other one was rolling in joy. Now part of that joy may because she is in heat. This cat is the cat equivalent to a crack head. She's tiny and scrawny and a ball of hyper activity. She still looks like a kitten and she is 1 1/2 years old. I didn't even think she had that much under coat. But after 5 minutes i had a large handful of fur. She was rolling side to side enjoying it. The other one is just gonna have to suck it up. Im never buying another brand of brush again. Sorry for the horrible flash photos. But I had to show the comparison between her and the ball of fur i pulled out. Also please don't judge my dirty table.
  • I was brushing my long haired cat with a regular comb and I thought it was getting his extra shedding hair off good enough. Then his hair got pretty matted on his back end and it was hard to comb and even cut off. I ordered this tool as a last resort before shaving him. This tool is amazing! I was in shock at how much hair it took off my cat. As you can see from the pictures it's a lot of shedding hair and he's definately not bald after. He feels better and lighter. The tool feels a bit heavy, but it does a good job of applying the right amount of pressure to separate the shedding hair from your pet. The hooks work great, I was afraid they would hurt my cats skin but it did not at all. I highly recommend this tool. I'll never use a regular comb on my cat again. I need to mention I used this tool on my cat after I had paid a lot of money to have him groomed. The "grooming" obviously did nothing and the tool was ALOT less expensive and traumatizing for my cat.
  • This is 120 pound German Shepherd, I know the pictures don’t do it justice or scale to size. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the first pile. And this is Midsummer and I have already brushed Max many times this year. It is ridiculously easy to use, and as you’re brushing you can also just blow on the brush and every stroke and the hair just releases right away. Hope that makes sense you don’t have to stop every stroke and use your other hand to take out the hair. It is amazing. Now I also have a ton of nesting material for our wild birds birds next spring :)
  • I had another brush, which ended up breaking (It was a brush from a local petstore). I looked through the listings and found this brush. Decided to order and boom! Received it the very next day. As soon as this was in my hands, I decided to put it to use. Oh boy!!!! I think both myself and my pup LOVE this brush. It's dual-sided action really gets those hairs! My pup is a boxer-husky mix. Is she furry!!! Side note- we call her princess fluffy butt sometimes....Anyways! Highly recommend the brush. It's easy to use and fits in your hands well. Recommend for larger breeds, since this is a larger brush.
  • We have an 8 month old German Shepherd that I could literally see his shedding hair fall to the floor. I’ve been vacuuming daily and that’s not enough. I ordered this brush because of the great reviews and it does not disappoint. I took him outside to brush him out with this brush and I was shocked at the volume of hair it was brushing out! I’m sure some of this is still his puppy hair because now I can see color change and shorter hair. It’s as if he had a hair trim, and no the brush does not cut their hair, this just shows how much he needed a good grooming and this tool helps tremendously where other brushes don’t. After one brushing we noticed a lot less itching and nibbling in areas and he enjoyed the brush out. I didn’t use the “furminator” side of the brush. The side with the smooth rounded tines didn’t hurt or scratch his skin but it worked better than I could have imagined pulling out the shedding undercoat.
  • If you have a dog that sheds, YOU NEED THIS BRUSH! I would brush my boyfriends dog, daily to minimize her shedding and there was still pet hair all over. This brush got more hair off of her the first time using it then if you combined all the hair I'd brushed out daily for the month prior. That trashcan in the photo was empty when I started and is just filled with all the hair it got out! And as you can tell in the picture, she is smaller then the trash can and is not a big dog despite the big pile of fluff! This brush works AMAZING! Don't get me wrong she still dislikes being brushed unlike some other reviewers pets, but I will say she tolerates this brush much better then she did the other one. So that's progress at least! Here's hoping keeping up brushing her with this will help manage the pet hair around the house and save us from needing so many lint rollers!
  • Believe the reviews. Anyone who pets my dog is astonished how much hair falls off. His coat is super soft and healthy, medium length, he’s a blue heeler mix. I thought I had tried everything. I vigorously pet him on his first walk of the day to shake off as much excess as I can. Then I brush him with a standard wire brush for at least 10 minutes. He gets a bath once a week. We have a robot vacuum that goes daily and I use the regular vacuum at least once a week and I even vacuum him. His breed is not one that needs to be groomed and I even had him groomed once, went to pet him afterwards and got the normal handful of hair. The fur just does not stop! I figured it was just his coat and our local climate. Anyway after some research I landed here, figured what the hell, it’s 15 bucks not 30 like the furminator and it has a second style of brush. After one stroke of the claw side I was astonished. Huge handful of fur flying away. Brushed him out with that side until it wasn’t as much and then switched to the fine side. Again handfuls of fur. It took a solid ten minutes but he LOVED it. And now for the first time in 7 years I am petting my dog without a creating any fur tumble weeds. If you don’t think anything will stop the shedding then you’re in the right place. You won’t regret it.
  • I bought this brush after the last time one of my Australian Shepherds finished her heavy shedding. I put it away in a drawer and forgot all about it for several months. When my next Australian Shepherd started shedding I thought to myself “I really need to get one of those great shedding brushes.“ Then I remembered that I have got one. I searched through my dog paraphernalia and found the brush. I was a little bummed because I realized that if I didn’t like it, it was too late to return it. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry about that. it worked great and my dogs love it. We got through one of our Aussie’s heavy shedding periods, with not nearly as much hair all over the place! I really like it! The best part is when I pull it out, both of the Aussies run to me and try to push the other out-of-the-way so they can get the brushes. It must feel really good to them. • I couldn't believe how much hair came off our Golden Retriever the first time we used this brush. He's only 9 months old and hasn't had a real good brush to brush him yet. But the hair around the house was getting out of control and our current brush wasn't doing the job. This brush works really well and I love the versatility of having one brush with the ability to use both tools. Works really good for both brushing out and getting the undercoat. I am very happy with this purchase and definitely recommend it. I did quite a bit of research before making this purchase and I am very happy with it. Alright, I'm gonna go brush my dog.

  • This is the best pet brush that I have had! It truly gets out the thicker undercoat that tends to mat. I have used this on my dogs and cats. It's amazing how much hair can be removed in a very short amount of time. All of my animals have loved being brushed with this. You can hear it go through the rough spots (without any complaints from the animal) and leave the area smooth. The brush is well made and very sturdy. Some people might think it's a little heavy to hold. My only issue is that it is a little wide for smaller cats (and maybe small dogs). I wish they offered this same brush/tool in a shorter version for smaller pets.
